EndNote X7 for the Mac now works with Microsoft Word 2016. When you open the desktop version of EndNote, it should tell you that that there is an update available, but you can also select Check for Updates in the EndNote X7 dropdown menu. Click on the 'EndNote X7' Menu and choose 'About EndNote' If this reads EndNote X7.6 (Bld 11666), you have the latest version of EndNote installed.: Attention: X7 Mac and Word Insiders version 15.25.0 compatibility Microsoft released version 15.25.0 of Office 2016 to their Mac Insider Fast channel. The Endnote x7 beta works great on my mac. But there is one problem I just found. If the 'instant formatting' is on, inserting a citation will cause the collapse of the Word 2016. But, luckily, if I turn off the 'instant formatting', everything works fine.
I spoke to a sales person at Thomson Reuters yesterday about upgrading from X6 to X7. When I asked about the Word 2016 issue, they said that it should be resolved in January. NOTE: There was a compatibility issue with EndNote X7 and the MacIntosh OS Sierra which has been corrected in the latest version X8. A Cite While You Write patch is available for EndNote X7 that addresses the compatibility issue with Office 2016/Office 365 on Macintosh [the Endnote toolbar tab not appearing in the Word menu].
Dear community,
I've heard of several problems with endnote disappearing while working with word. Solving this problem should be possible by the following:
- Click on the Office button in the upper left corner .
- Under the Office menu, click on “Word Options” at the bottom. A new window will open.
- Click on “Add-ins” on the left NavBar in the Word Options window.
- At the bottom of the list of Add-Ins, under “Disabled Application Add-Ins”, you should see the Cite While You Write Add-in. To re-enable this, go to the Manage: pull-down menu located at the very bottom of the Word Options window. Change the menu from “COM Add-ins” to “Disabled Items”.
- Click Go, you will see a little pop-up window.
- Click on the “Add-in: cite while you write (endnote cwyw.dll)” and then hit Enable.
- After doing that, close Word 2007 as well as all other Office programs and then restart Word2007. The EndNote X3 Tab should reappear in the Ribbon next to the View tab.
But how can I do this in word 2016 for mac? All buttons are mixed up here.. I hope you can help!
